Jordan Joplin

Jordan Joplin became a photographer because of the extensive amount of time she spent in the wild. One day while hiking in Brazil, I thought to myself, “ How can I afford to spend all of my time out here and still be able to afford the man made world?” My answer was photography. At first I believed I  would despise photography for taking away the present moment in nature, but through photography I learned that it does not take away from that moment, in fact, it forces you to dive deeper into it. While watching a sunset, you see that moment and enjoy it. But how many sunsets do you truly remember? Through photography, you are forced to pay close attention to detail, and because of that you are now left with a stronger memory of that moment as well as an image to always bring you back to that place and time.

About

Jordan Joplin is a wildlife photographer who spends her time tracking apex predators such as wolves, grizzly bears, and bobcats. Joplin understands that wild animal are dangerous and something that demands respect. However, she also understands that if you respect nature, nature can respect you. Jordan Joplin sees her interactions with wildlife as a language. It is through body language that a predator and a human can understand one another, which in turn allows ample time to remove yourself from a potentially dangerous situation if you can read that language. Understanding predators to be dangerous, Jordan finds mankind may be more worthy of being feared.
